RT1 miniature resin trap

Description

The RT1 is a heavy duty miniature resin trap providing 0.6 litres (20 fluid ounces) of resin catching capacity. Resin is collected in a low cost, easily replaceable paper drinking cup. Vacuum measurement and control are provided by the well proven components from our original Vacmobile 20/2 system. Combined with a customer-supplied vacuum pump, the RT1 can be simply converted into a complete vacuum system for vacuum bagging and small scale resin infusion. As an example of such a system, please refer to our E1 series information sheet.

Depending on the requirements of the application, the RT1 may be combined with vacuum pumps ranging in capacity from about 3 m3/h (1.8 cfm) to 30 m3/h (18 cfm).

Hose Kit

Extremely flexible wire reinforced silicone rubber hose. Standard length 500 mm (19.7”) terminating wih a ¾” BSPP female union. This will allow easy fitting to ¾” male threads (either BSP or NPT). Other terminations on request.

Degas Kit

This degasses a thin stream of resin on the way in to the vessel. The degas kit achieves better air removal than is possible with bulk resin degassing and is suitable for resin batches up to 9 litres (2.4 US gallons). It is also effective with high viscosity resins that are difficult to degas in bulk.

Absolute gauge

An absolute pressure gauge is easily fitted to an RT1 Trap.

VPE ultrasonic leak detector

Ultrasonic leak detectors enable small vacuum leaks inaudible to the human ear to be detected and physically located. Using a leak detector will considerably speed up the location and repair of vacuum bag leaks.

Disposable catchpot	Paper drinking cup of 600 ml (20 fluid ounce) capacity. Standard supply is 1 cup in the trap and 10 spares. Similar capacity cups should be readily available in most countries.
Standard features	Vacuum regulator, vacuum gauge, coarse air filter, pump isolation valve and absolute pressure gauge connection (O-ring sealed socket to suit 8 mm or 5/16” OD male stem).
Pump hose connection	Hose tail to suit 19 mm (¾”) nominal bore hose as standard. Other sizes on request.
Trap lid options	Two trap lid options are available (see "TRAP LID OPTIONS" tap). The pressed steel lid does not allow the trap contents to be viewed while under vacuum and should be reserved for vacuum bagging over dry laminates or very small infusions. For infusion applications, the toughened glass lid option allows the catchpot contents to be inspected at any time. For ease of cleaning, the glass is protected on both sides by disposable transparent PVC shields.
Tubing connections	2 connections in 4 optional sizes to suit the following outside diameter extruded tubes: 3/8” to 10 mm, 1/2” to 13 mm, 5/8” to 16 mm, or 19 mm to 3/4”. With adaptors, also suitable for 1/2” and 3/4” inside diameter tubing. On all standard tubing sizes, high integrity vacuum connections are quickly and reliably achieved at the trap lid via O-ring seals on the outside of the tube.
Vacuum integrity	All RT1 series resin traps are tested to achieve vacuum leak rates of less than 1 mbar per hour (or more than 1,000 hours to leak back to atmosphere).
